Dutch tile portraying man in a boat made of a shell that’s being pulled by a turtle; spiders as a motif in the corners; blue and white; Amsterdam
Tiles with a comparable sea and corner are part of a fire place in the town hall in Jisp (a village in the province of North Holland, The Netherlands) (Jan Pluis, Mythologische voorstellingen op Nederlandse tegels, Leiden 2011, p. 163). Another tile with the same depiction, sea and corner motif is published by Jan Pluis (2011, p. 165).
Condition: The tile is slightly cut along the upper edge, probably to fit in a wall.
